Junior School students honoured a different theme each day, starting with Lights Off Monday to conserve energy. On No Food Waste Tuesday, Green Team members showed examples of the clear buckets that would be used throughout the week to monitor food waste in the Niczowski, Temovsky, Arrigo Dining Hall. Each grade had its own bucket and competed to see which grade was the most conscious of “eating what they take.”
On Water Conservation Wednesday, students and faculty were reminded to always use re-useable water bottles, never disposable bottles while at CDS. On Paperless Thursday (today), students and faculty were reminded to use GOOS (Good on one side) paper in their classes, rather than waste a clean sheet on both sides. Friday is Take Me Outside Friday where all Junior School teachers will attempt to arrange some outside learning time into their schedules.
Meanwhile in the Middle and Senior Schools, students in the Grade 9 Green Industries course were busy reminding parents of the idle-free zones in CDS driveways this week. Students and faculty were reminded that CDS is a no-plastic water bottle zone and to please use one of the numerous water re-filling stations, and that our compost bins in the Niczowski, Temovsky, Arrigo Dining Hall fuel our Rocket composter – so scrape your food accordingly. Everyone was then encouraged to sign up for the Campus Cleanup times throughout the week and to do their part to keep CDS as Green as can be!
