Bond Academy had its two annual Holiday Concerts on Thursday December 11, 2014. All classes from Montessori to grade eight participated. The students performed a variety of challenging vocal and instrumental pieces. It was certainly a night to remember.
The first concert involved students in Montessori to grade three as well as Bond Academy’s Cheer Team and Junior Choir. The Cheer Team began the show with a burst of energy and enthusiasm. The team cheered, completed lifts, and even jumped off the stage.
Next, each class performed their holiday song. Each class wore a different costume, some of which included: pajamas, holiday sweaters, fancy dresses and cowboy hats, leather jackets and sun glasses, Hawaiian grass skirts and leis, and even outfits that resembled Christmas trees. All students sang with confidence and pride.
The Junior Choir closed the concert by singing two contrasting pieces. The first was a beautiful ballad about a child making snow angels and the second was a fun piece about the different holidays in December.
The second concert involved students in grades four to eight where each class performed a vocal song and an instrumental piece. The school’s competitive Show Choir team and band also performed.
The Show Choir began the second concert in a two-part harmony. The choir performed difficult choreography while singing.
Following the Show Choir’s performance, each class presented their vocal and instrumental pieces. Vocal pieces highlighted harmony, wide ranges, and a variety of genres. Such genres included: jazz, 1950s pop, musical, contemporary pop, and classic Christmas songs.
For the instrumental pieces, students performed a variety of holiday pieces. Such songs included: Frosty the Snowman, Baby its Cold Outside, Jolly Old St Nicholas, Jingle Bells and Up On the Housetop.
The band ended the concert by performing two pieces – Christmas Time is Here and Here Comes Santa Claus. The band then asked that every audience member join them in singing We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
The entire staff at Bond Academy was incredibly proud of the effort that all students put forward in creating such wonderful performances. It was certainly a night for everyone to feel proud. Many thanks to all the staff who contributed to the continuing development of the talent of our students.
