On February 23rd, Bond Senior Choir went with their teachers to Bowmanville High School, and performed at the Ontario Vocal Festival of Canada.
“It is a non-competitive vocal festival which aims to encourage students to perform without competing with other schools.” said Laura Harvey, Bond Vocal Teacher. “I think we did great! Our third song was named ‘lightening’, and was our hardest song. But that was the best we’ve ever performed it. The kids were watching me for the entrance. They were energetic and strong, and did everything I asked them to do. It was nice to perform in a room which has wonderful acoustics.”
After the performance, Bond Senior Choir had the opportunity to enjoy a 30-minute vocal clinic with Dr. Graeme Langager, the Director of Choral Activities from UBC School of Music. Ms. Harvey said: “The individual clinic was great because Dr. Langager showed us many different ways to present singing phrases, such as presenting your hands in different ways to convey different sounds.”
Afterwards, Dr. Langager issued a special award to Christian Delgado, a Bond Grade 5 student, for the great spirit as a leader in the choir. Bravo, Bond Senior Choir! We are really proud of you all!
