On March 6th, Bond Senior Choir went to Mayfield Secondary School with their teachers to perform at the Ontario Vocal Festival of Canada. This non-competitive vocal festival is to encourage students to perform without any competition between schools.
“Bond Academy sang three songs at the Ontario Vocal Festival, including Chicken on a Fence Post, Inscription of Hope, and Canoe Song for a large audience and two adjudicators.” said Laura Harvey, the Vocal Music Teacher at Bond. “Most of the choirs in the festival were high school choirs. This is Bond’s second time attending the festival. ”
Ms. Harvey mentioned that the choir received a private workshop from one of the adjudicators where he worked with the choir on their articulation and helped to develop dynamic contrast. “Two high school students, Aidan Gowan and Michelle Hack, helped to accompany the choir on percussion instruments for one of their pieces. The choir looked and sounded great. We are so pleased!”
Afterwards, a special award was presented to Puja, a Bond Grade 6 student, for the Great Spirit as a leader in the choir.
Bravo, Bond Senior Choir! We are really proud of you all!
