It was the culmination of the Cross Country Running season! Last Friday, Oct. 16th, Grade 1-8 students from Bond Academy participated in the SSAF Cross Country Running Championship competition at Sunnybrook Park in Toronto.
Over 1300 competitors from different private schools attended the event, and did one of their best runs of this year. The race began with the U8 Boys. When the day began it was beautiful outside with a nice temperature and the shining sunlight. However, in the middle of the U14 Boys run, a driving rain, hail and huge wind attacked all the runners. The runners of the U14 Girls group showed great dedication by running in the pouring rain and were soaked.
“Even though the weather changed dramatically, students still stayed focused and tried their best during the running.” said Royal Carney, Athletics Director at Bond. He was impressed by the students’ dedication. “The participation was great. We had crazy weather today, but everyone did their best in the rain. Especially our last group U14 Girls, the girls were soaked before they even started the race, but they made an amazing effort to run in the rain and did everything they could to complete the race.”
Bond Academy won two championships – Under 8 Boys and Under 10 Girls! The coaches are very proud of every single team member for showing determination and hard work. Special mention goes to Fallon McGroarty (2nd Place), Dabiye Wallace (2nd Place), Bethan Wallace (3rd Place), Jessica Beauchamp (6th Place), Preston Gayle (3rd Place), and Chika Osigwe (3rd Place).
Go Bond Go!
