On February 19th, Bond students from Grades 2 to 8 enjoyed the annual Skating Day at McGregor Park Community Centre. While some students were volunteering to help teach their classmates who went on the ice for the first time, the others were practicing their speed skating skills.
Bond Athletics Director Royal Carney then organized a short track race for students from each grade. During the track race, students were cheering for their friends, especially for the ones who were new to skating.
The most exciting part was the speed skating relay race between Bond student teams and the local police officer team. On one side, all the students were so excited that they started to scream their friends’ names to cheer for the teams. “It was fun! I was in the race to compete with the other teams, including the police officers! I really liked it!” said Dabiye Wallace, a Grade 3 student at Bond.
