Hudson College is fortunate enough to have a wealth of technology accessible to our students at all times. The Hudson iHub houses a variety of different equipment for students to utilize to enhance their learning. Using technology in the iHub allows students to integrate technology into their everyday learning. Most recently, Grade 12 chemistry students used the 3D printing technology from the Hudson iHub to gain a deeper understanding of quantum atom models, orbital hybridization, and chemical bonding. Designing and printing the models of the various atoms and molecules provides the students with a deeper understanding of structure, and allowed the students the opportunity to observe the atoms and molecules from a different perspective - more than what could be gleaned from a textbook picture. Seeing the molecules and atoms firsthand allows the students to be immersed in their structural integrity, thus deepening their understanding of how the molecules and atoms function.
