Lynn-Rose Heights Selected by Free The Children!
Today we were pleased to welcome to our school representatives from Free the Children as well as Mama Leah, who is involved with the Kenyan artisans program and has directly experienced empowerment as a result of Free the Children.
We also welcomed Joan and Irene who are students at an all-girls school in Kenya. They were able to share with us how education and leadership opportunities are transforming their lives.
Our students had the opportunity to see pictures of life in Kenya and hear firsthand accounts of what school life and daily life is like for these girls.
Mama Leah was able to explain to students how the Empower Rafiki Friend Chain program was able to help her obtain financial independence and a better future for her family.
About Free The Children,
“Free The Children is an international charity and educational partner that believes in a world where all children are free to achieve their fullest potential as agents of change. We work domestically through We Day and We Act to educate, engage and empower youth to become active local and global citizens. Through our holistic and sustainable development model—Adopt a Village—we work to remove barriers to education and to empower communities to break the cycle of poverty”.
