On June 8th, Bond Academy had a special guest, Ms Michaela Evans from Me To We – Free The Children, visit the campus to give a presentation about helping needy children around the world.
Ms Evans shared some fascinating stories about how brothers Craig and Marc Kielburger founded Me To We – Free The Children, and their mission. She then introduced their on-going projects, by exhibiting five different items.
“I have five things in my bag that I’d like to show you. Each item represents each purpose that we’ve been working on building.” said Ms Evans, a School Engagement Specialist at Me To We – Free The Children. “There are a pencil, a small bottle of water, a bottle of medicine, a sweet potato and a hand-made necklace.”
With Ms Evans’ encouragement, students from Bond Junior Council guessed all the correct answers. “The pencil represents school, the water represents well, the medicine represents clinic, the sweet potato represents food, and the hand-made accessories means income.”
After the fundraising efforts of students, staff and parents, Bond Junior Council raised $450.00 for Me To We - Free The Children.
A big thank you to our awesome Junior Council members, students, staff and parents at Bond!
