Movember is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches, during the month of November, to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, other male cancers, and mental health charities. The goal of Movember, and the Movember Foundation, is to get people talking about men’s health by having men grow a moustache and talk about the "change the face of men's health".
By encouraging men (whom the charity refers to as "Mo Bros") to get involved, Movember aims to increase early cancer detection, diagnosis and effective treatments. This will, ultimately, reduce the number of preventable deaths. Besides annual check-ups, the Movember Foundation encourages men to be aware of any family history of cancer and to adopt a healthier lifestyle.
This year, a group of Bond staff and surprisingly a student, participated in this year’s Movember fundraising event. The Team, known as The Bond Bearcat Mos, consisted of Paul Preikschas (the Team Captain), along with Greg Macri, John Koumaris, Alex Papini and our student Mo – Neil Huang.
Our initial goal was to raise $500 for the Movember Foundation. We soon met our goal and then challenged ourselves to double our efforts and our goal. The Bond Bearcat Mo’s raised a total of $1090 for men’s health! The team would like to thank everyone who participated and donated to this worthy cause.
The team has some great ideas to make next year’s event and fundraising effort an even bigger success. Success starts at Bond.
