Kendellhurst Academy students had a delightful time hopping around to raise money and show their support for The Muscular Dystrophy Association. The MDA Hop-A-Thon is a disability awareness and fund raising program offered at preschools, grade schools and public schools all across the country to create awareness, acceptance and assistance.
Students learned all about their muscles and the physical differences and abilities between all people. One of our goals at Kendellhurst is to help children learn about diversity and to be accepting of all kinds of people and disabilities. Our students learned that kids with muscular dystrophy can see and hear and smell and taste and talk very well, even if they have a hard time climbing stairs or running fast on the playground. They can think and dream and laugh and learn — just like us – even if they have to rely on a wheel chair or leg brace.
Kendellhurst families and friends showed immense support by raising $5,888 in support of The Muscular Dystrophy Association. A big thank you goes out to our school community who managed to gather pledges for a very good cause while having fun at the same time!
