On September 24th, a teacher from Montessori arranged for a police officer, PC Hanna, to visit Bond Academy to do a safety presentation for students in Montessori 1 and 2. It was a perfect opportunity for the children to learn about the life of a police officer and increase their safety awareness.
During the presentation, the children learned how to keep safe while out in public, when it is mandatory to wear helmets, and what to look for when crossing the road, etc. After the presentation, the children were given the opportunity to “drive” the police car, as well.
The children thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and came away with a greater awareness of safety and how to respond and react in the event of an emergency.
This presentation is one of commnunity awareness series. It is a perfect practice for Montessori students to learn the basic skills they need in daily life. For more pictures, visit http://www.bondacademy.ca/gallery.asp?album=352
