On Monday, September 19th, Bond invited all our Secondary and Grades 7 & 8 students to attend a special assembly presented by MADD Canada on campus.
Bond students watched the video “In the Blink of an Eye” provided by MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) Canada, which was about the tragic consequences of impaired driving. The video is a powerful dramatization that ends with some real-life victims sharing their heartbreaking experiences of suffering the loss of a beloved someone because of others’ drunk driving.
According to MADD, the purpose of today’s video and assembly was to inform Bond students to know their options before they have to face the situation of either choosing to drive impaired or become a passenger with an impaired driver. Both of these two situations are equally unsafe.
Bond Secondary students learned a few tips on how to prevent a tragedy, including: choose a designated driver, call a taxi, and be responsible. If spotting an impaired driver on the road, keep a safe distance and call 9-1-1.
