On April 28, Bond’s U20 Ball Hockey Team and coaches travelled to the Magna Centre, in Newmarket, to compete in the SSAF Under 20 Ball Hockey Tournament.
“We have a young team this year. Some of the players have the background of playing ice hockey, and we try to develop them into playing ball hockey,” said Jeremy Keetch, a Bond Secondary School Teacher and Ball Hockey Coach. “We’ve been practicing only for a month.” Mr. Keetch mentioned that Bond team had been playing well since their training, including the game’s strategies and structures.
“Our team members have been really positive,” said Ryan Quigley, another Bond Secondary School Teacher and Ball Hockey Coach. “We are pretty happy with all their team building efforts. It’s hard to play against mature players; especially since they are bigger and stronger than us. But we believe that our team can do better next time.”
Coltrane Daniels, a Grade 11 student and the Captain of Ball Hockey Team at Bond, said that the team showed a great spirit on the field in the games played. When asking about today’s challenge and future plan, he said: “It’s a wide surface and a longer distance than we usually play. Ultimately, we will need to improve our skills, such as hassle a bit harder and cover the other guy better.”
Good job, everyone! We believe our Ball Hockey Team will work hard with their training and will develop as they grow. Go Bond Go!
