The STS community would like to congratulate our Head of School, Dr. William Jones for earning his Doctor of Education through the University of British Columbia. Dr. Jones began working on his doctorate seven years ago and successfully defended his thesis at UBC on October 11, 2013.
Dr. Jones’ dissertation was entitled “The Influence of Ubiquitous Computing on Teacher-Student Relationships” and his findings will be shared at STS as they have implications for implementing technology in ways that strengthen teacher-student relationships.
“This is significant because research indicates that positive or constructive teacher-student relationships correlate positively with a range of educational outcome including student motivation, student achievement, adjustment and attitudes toward school, character development and so on. It is possible to integrate technology into the learning process in ways that strengthen the teacher-student relationship,” said Dr. Jones.
Dr. Jones’ commitment to lifelong learning makes him a wonderful role model for our students. Congratulations Dr. Jones!
