Upper Canada College’s varsity swimmers maintained the high standards set by their predecessors in past years by winning the U16, U20, open and overall boys titles at the Conference of Independent Schools Athletic Association championships at the University of Toronto Athletic Centre on Feb. 17.
UCC racked up 760 total points, outdistancing second-place St. Andrew’s College by 101 points to claim the overall championship. The UCC U16 team and St. Andrew’s tied for top place in that division with 254 points, while the Blues captured the U20 and open men’s divisions outright with 306 and 200 points respectively.
The Blues also finished third overall in the combined (boys and girls) standings behind Appleby College and Trinity College School.
“There were an incredible amount of personal bests, top relay finishes and some very solid individual results from all CISAA swimmers,” says head coach Vlad Roytberg.
Several UCC swimmers qualified for the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations championships. The Blues finished second overall at the OFSAA championships last year, as both the junior and senior teams placed second in their respective divisions, and will be looking for another strong performance in Windsor on March 7.
