Bond Academy students, in Grade6, 7 and 8, went on a wildness excursion to Camp Wanakita in Haliburton, ON, from October 8 to October 10, 2014.
This year at Wanakita was a very exciting and enjoyable time for the student and teachers at bond. Each year, all the students and staff have the chance to participate and learn new hiking skills at Camp Wanakita. As the grades go along with their trip, they pick up survival and outdoor abilities that we can use for the rest of our lives. It is lots of fun to learn how to canoe or kayak, make s’mores, study wildlife, and enjoy the beauty of nature that surrounds the camp. I found this camp a great place to bond and to really learn a lot about my classmates. Students have always found a way to make fun even by themselves in their cabins, and the memories made will last forever. Although the weather there was quite atrocious, we always found a way to look past it with fun activities, like lifting a person up a flat wall with just your classmates! I am sure that we can all agree that this was definitely one of the best times we’ve spent at Wanakita.
