In June, the Board of Governors approved Gordon’s succession plan which included a recommendation of a Co-Executive Director model for Foothills Academy. This model will further strengthen the organization and allow both the School Program and Community Services to flourish and grow.
The Board of Governors is pleased to announce the appointment of Simon Williams and Karen MacMillan as Co-Executive Directors of Foothills Academy Society. We trust that they will build upon Gordon’s legacy to lead the centre into the future.
Simon Williams graduated from the University of Sheffield before completing his postgraduate work in special education from Cambridge University. He taught for 5 years in the UK before teaching in the U.S. and Australia as well. He has worked at Foothills Academy for 10 years, most recently as the Director of the School Program at Foothills Academy. Karen MacMillan has a PhD in Counselling Psychology and has been a Registered Psychologist for over 12 years. She has taught at the Mount Royal University, Athabasca University, and the University of Calgary. Prior to this appointment she was the Director of Community Services at Foothills Academy. Both Mr. Williams and Dr. MacMillan are actively involved with a variety of committees focused on advocacy and policy-making for the LD/ADHD population.
