Thetford Academy students recently participated in the pilot launch of Regeneration Corps, a Vermont-based learning movement "supporting youth in gaining the hands-on skills necessary to transition from an extractive culture to one that is regenerative.”
From the Regeneration Corps syllabus:
"Welcome to the pilot launch of Regeneration Corps! This program integrates racial justice, climate change, community building and regenerative agriculture skills and is designed to help you navigate an increasingly uncertain future. We will get our hands dirty, think critically and engage in thoughtful discussions while learning about the most pressing issues of our time."
In addition to attending two “on-farm” classes at nearby Cedar Circle Farm, Thetford Academy students were given the opportunity to attend additional sessions, including workshops focused on skills such as animal processing, on-farm carpentry, or community organizing. Some students seeking further credits towards graduation have also chosen to pursue an independent study supported by Thetford Academy and Regeneration Corps organizational partners.
