WillowWood School strives to teach its students about climate change and responsible environmental stewardship. But we don't just talk the talk here, we walk the walk. We are in the process of installing a massive photovoltaic solar panel array on our building, allowing us to generate 100% of our own electrical energy (and then some). Thanks to the team at Ab Solar Systems Inc. for making it happen! Once complete, a whopping 350 panels will cover our roof and turn sunshine into useable energy. Our students will be able to access a web portal with live updates on energy generation and carbon emissions avoided. This project has been part of our larger plan to become more environmentally friendly. Previous efforts have included the elimination of water bottle sales, upgrading our water-filling stations, and the provision of refillable drinking bottles to our students. We hope that these initiatives inspire our student body to become future caretakers of our beautiful planet.
