All students at Braemar House School, from Montessori to Grade 8, receive instruction in French. Students meet Ministry curriculum expectations, and many work beyond their grade level. Various enrichment activities compliment work in class and we connect our French program with other learning opportunities as well. Here are two recent examples.
Braves Soldats
Our Grade 2 and 3 students sang, “Braves Soldats” during our Remembrance Day Assembly. Presentations like this give students confidence in speaking French.
La pizza
Grade 5 students worked hard to write and present their very own pizza recipe in class. This was followed by an actual cooking period. Students enjoyed their personal pizza and made a dessert pizza as well.
Every year the Grade 8 students research a career, learn the education requirements, salary, etc. about this career and then create a poster board and presentation for our Grade 8 French Career Fair.
We often hear from our graduates and teachers, that they were very prepared for Highschool French.
“Students coming from Braemar are prepared exceptionally well in French. I am impressed with both their performance and fluency when they get up and present in class.” French Department Head, Ancaster Highschool
