In Upper School Prayers on January 16, Havergal’s Cancer Education Group hosted special guest speaker Nadia Gulamhusein, who spoke about her experiences battling cancer.
Nadia was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 24, which inspired her to help others. Now in remission, she uses her time and energy to work as a motivational speaker to inspire others use the power of positive thinking to help them through difficult times.
Havergal’s Cancer Education Group is a student-run group, led by Grade 10 student Ceilidh Mendelson-Grasse. This year, the group has been meeting to find new ways to raise awareness about cancer. Members of this group are hosting a hair cutting event in support of cancer patients who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments on January 20. Participants willing to cut their hair for wigs will receive complimentary haircuts from Lid Salon, the Granite Club and Brazilian Blow Out Toronto hairstylists. Thank you to all of our hair cutting event participants for helping to make a difference for those going through cancer treatments.
