We are delighted to announce that once again, the Abelard School is represented in the Toronto Public Library's Literary and Arts publication, Young Voices. The juried 2015 edition features creative writing and visual art by students from across the GTA. Our tiny school has a long history of winning places in the magazine, and we are proud of our current authors! Creative writing is an important part of the English curriculum at Abelard, and augments the formal studies in English literature. Each year our students publish their own Literary Journal, and participate in juried competitions on a provincial and national level. Inspired by his experiences at Abelard, in 2013 alumnus Elijah Teitlebaum launched the first student-run literary journal at Mount Allison University. Last year, Grade 11 student Sivan Piatigorsky-Roth won first place in the Carleton University creative writing competition, Passages, in the fiction under 18 category. Abelard has a number of published authors and journalists among our alumni, and we are thrilled to see them continue to write after they leave our school.
